As many of you already know, in late September of 2022, my good friend Clement Piche' - Pe' to my kids and loving husband to my Mother passed away due to complications related to Parkinson's and the ensuing Dementia. Dementia is a brain disorder, and can be summarized as a 'group of symptoms, rather than a specific disorder'. Alzheimer's, on the other hand, is a general degeneration of the brain and is the most common type of Dementia, accounting for almost 1/3 of all Dementia cases globally. In fact, in North America, 1 in 3 seniors will die with Alzheimer's or another type of Dementia. Living with this disease is unbearable for the patient and equally difficult for the caregiver(s), causing long-lasting emotional and physical scars.
